Dirk Zimmermann, founding partner of ZIMMERMANN KALINER, was born in 1967 in Neuss am Rhein.
After earning his university entrance qualification, he took a law degree in Mainz, which he pursued in France and graduated in 1995 in Cologne with the first state law exam.
After completing his studies Dirk Zimmermann worked in the legal department of the German health insurance in Cologne between 1996 and 1997.
He completed his legal traineeship in Düsseldorf and Padua (Italy). In 1999, after passing the second state examination, he gained admission to the bar.
Since 1999 he has worked as an independent lawyer, first in Cologne and then in Berlin.
In 2005, together with Marcus Kaliner, he founded the law firm ZIMMERMANN KALINER, which has its headquarters in Berlin.
Due to his many years of membership in the German-Iranian Lawyers Association e.V. in Hamburg, he is particularly active in the area of foreign trade law in the drafting of international supply and distribution contracts as well as advising on investment projects in Iran and the UAE.
Dirk Zimmermann’s other areas of expertise include criminal law, traffic law and labor law.

In addition to German, he speaks English, French and Italian and has knowledge of the Persian language.
